Create fantastical creatures in this one-night family workshop! Alebrijes are the colorful imaginative creatures created by cartonero Pedro Linares in the 1930s. Popularized by Oaxacan artisans in the 1980s and 1990s, these creatures are made in papier mache or wood carvings. In our workshop, we’ll design our fantastic creatures using inspiration from animals we know and images of Mexican Alebrijes, then we’ll sculpt with paper clay to bring our creatures to life. Let your creation dry at home, then come back to the Corvallis Museum on November 1st for the Dia de los Muertos event to paint your Alebrije!

For ages 3 and up – Children must be accompanied by an adult who can help with molding aluminum foil and soft air dry clay.
